The infamous "baby meat" flyer posted all over SFSU by the Palestinian students.

The general union of palestinian students have existed at SFSU for years. There is a sister group at UC Santa Cruz that is currently under investigation by federal authorities for being what they are; openly racist and anti-semetic. They harass and berate jewish students every chance they get. It's nice to hear that someone is standing up to their harassment of jewish students.

The palestinian students want it both ways, no pro-Israel speech on campus because to them that viewpoint is "racist." Meanwhile, they want to hold rallies with radical speakers that claim Israel is worse than Nazi Germany and the actions of Israel amount to outright genocide.

The important distinction to make is the difference between free speech and harassment. Rushing a stage and shouting down an opposing speaker is not "free speech." In fact, by preventing someone else from speaking, you are violating their civil rights. Each group should be allowed to hold events and say whatever they want without the opposition shutting down the event. Counter-protests are fine, but not when their goal is to prevent the other side from speaking.

The GUPS want "free speech for me, but not for thee."

San Franciscans Arrested In Response To CA Supreme Court Decision

This Tuesday (5/26/09), the California Supreme Court ruled to uphold Proposition 8, the same-sex marriage ban. As a response, San Franciscans gathered outside of City Hall block Van Ness & Grove (a major intersection) to express their discontent. After an hour and a half, the police begin making arrests to disperse the illegal gathering. GatorGOP took to the streets, cameras in hand, to cover the demonstration.

Students compare closure of campus restaurant to "lynching."

File this under the "wtf are they thinking" category. From what we can gather one of the many campus restaurants on campus is unable to pay their rent. As a result the school has given them a 3 day notice to vacate. Rather than find a way to pay the rent, they instead decided to cry racism, (there's a shocker). They've gone so far as to compare the school's closure of the restaurant to a lynching. A lynching is a horrific and historical racist act committed by disgusting human beings against innocent people. It's not something that should be taken lightly and conjures up memories of some of the worst incidences of hatred ever perpetrated in this country. And yet, this student thinks it's appropriate to appeal to those emotions in order to save a campus restaurant. UNBELIEVABLE.

Students Against War

Description: A bunch of rich white kids from Orange County who have been convinced their parents wealth was ill-gotten. As a result they spend their time standing up to evil capitalist. Somehow wearing nike shoes and working at Starbucks is part of the lifestyle.

Craziest thing they've ever done:
They got together a mob of 500 students to try and kick military recruiters off the SFSU campus. The College Republicans stood behind the recruiters in support of their prescence on campus:

International Socialist Organization
Description:
The ISO is really an umbrella organization for groups like Students against war. They figured out that they could get twice as much money from the school by starting two organizations and changing the names of the officers. By and large membership is the same in both organizations.

Craziest thing they've ever done:
Regularly participating in anti-america, anti-israel protests. Including calling America a "terrorist state" and pushing for a violent revolution.

Friends of the Spartacus Youth Club
Description: A small group of open and enthusiastic communist students. They make no effort what-so-ever to conceal their love for communism. On some level we respect that more than those that hide their true radical intentions.

Craziest thing they've ever done:

World Can't Wait
Description: An absolutely abhorrent communist organization that makes no qualms about hating America. They were founded by Bob Avakian, who also founded the Revolutionary Communist Party of America.

Craziest thing they've ever done:
They showed up to the SFSU 9/11 memorial in orange jump suits. Then they spray painted a swastika on an America flag before standing on it. This all took place no more than 5 feet from the names of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. They finished off the douchebaggery by offering up non-stop hitler salutes and cries of fascism throughout the event.

General Union of Palestinian Students

Description: A group of students who are either from Palestine or have close ties to Palestine. Some are muslim, some are christian some are non religious. They pride themselves on high-jacking every other left wing rally or event on campus by showing up with palestinian flag and demanding to speak about their plight. What's scary is how anti-semetic and anti-zionist they are.

Craziest thing they've ever done:
In 2004, they stirred up a mob to go after the College Republicans after Bush won re-election. 25 police made a ring around the CRs table to protect them from the troublemakers. They day before and the day after the election hundreds of pissed off students took out their rage on the College Republicans. The whole thing was lead by the General Union of Palestinian Students.

La Raza (The Race)/ MeCha
Description:
These are two groups with very different goals. La Raza euphemistically brands their racism as a "cultural identity." In reality they just plain don't like gringos. MeCha also hates the gringo. MeCha, however, claims that large parts of the southwest United States are the rightful property of Mexico and should be re-assimilated into the land area of Mexico. Naturally they support open borders, amnesty and anything else that destroys American sovereignty.

Student Unity and Power
Description: This is a relatively new group. They were formed to "build a militant opposition" to the recent fee increases throughout the CSU system. It became very clear, very fast that they're anything but militant.

Craziest thing they've ever done:
During their first protest they did the same thing every other leftist group on campus does, they blocked 19th Avenue/Highway 1 until word came down that the riot police were on their way to arrest them. Once they were facing time in the big house they left in the blink of an eye. I guess they don't want mommy and daddy back in Orange county to cut off the gravy train. The police guided them off onto a side street where they couldn't bother anyone anymore.

Muslim Student Association

Description:
Pretty straight forward. It's the Muslim group on campus.

Craziest thing they've ever done:
Apparently having NO concept what-so-ever about the first amendment, they filed a formal complaint against the College Republicans after the CRs use a Hamas flag as a door mat during an anti-terrorism rally. They called the action by the CRs "hate speech" and "racism." The MSA joined several other groups in an attempt to have the CRs charter revoked and the club kicked off campus. The school cooperation with the unconstitutional investigation lead to a federal lawsuit being levied against the school by the CRs. The shool lost big time and had to change the speech and conduct codes for the entire CSU and UC systems.

Cal GOP Under Pressure

Under pressure of the people, California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring recently announced that the executive committee will convene in a special session in Sacramento to discuss party positions on measures appearing on the May 19th special election ballot. Over the past few weeks Nehring's office has been flooded with angry emails, letters and phone calls concerning the CRPs financial support of Prop 1A. Being a massive tax increase in disguise California republicans are furious with their so called "republican" governor supporting such a devious proposition, and have been sending powerful messages to governor Schwarzenegger to show it. Now they are hoping to turn the tides from within the CRP before the party loses the support of the republican people.

Awarding wining actor/writer Dr. Bob Basso has recently flooded the web with his most recent viral video, depicting Thomas Paine calling on the people to stand up to their government. Dr. Basso has portrayed Thomas Paine, author of “Common Sense”, for more than 32 years. “Common Sense” served to spark the first American Revolution and now Dr. Basso is seeking to spark the second. With our current government far exceeding the reach of what our constitution is set to allow and growing everyday Dr. Basso used his years of research of the founders of this great country to educate many, and in his latest work he created a viral web video that puts aside partisan politics and asks the people to simply open their eyes to this atrocity.
After viewing the video President Obama stated that he is disturbed. Of course, the man who is attempting to take over every aspect of the lives of the American people would be appalled by such an effort to stand up to authoritarian leadership. Obama has recently invited Dr. Basso to the White House, no doubt to try and silence his efforts. White House officials have already asked Basso to not talk about the visit, but he has already committed an exclusive interview with Jerry Doyle soon afterward. If Dr. Basso does in fact come back alive from the White House, make sure to look for the interview.

At the 6th anniversary of the war, with Obama holding the Bush course in Iraq, the lefties must be pissed. Who knows, maybe it was just a bunch of bored high school kids.

BERKELEY, Calif. (KCBS) -- Berkeley police are looking for a group of vandals who broke windows and splattered paint on the walls of the Marine Corps recruiting office on Shattuck Square.
Police Sgt. Mary Kusmiss says it happened Wednesday just before 9 p.m.
Kusmiss says police received several calls from witnesses in the area that a group of 3 to 4 males were smashing the windows of the recruiting center.
"In the history of our experience at the recruiting center this is the most expensive damage ever committed there," said Kusmiss.
She says although the office has been the target of several anti-war protests over the years, this is the first that's totaled over $5,000 damage.

Would anyone be surprised if it turned out to be someone from one of these videos?

Code Pink Calls Marines War Criminals

Stand against political violence, demand prosecution of Jeremy Stern.

More details are coming to light about the recent violence against the College Republicans during an anti-hamas rally at SFSU. The two students arrested for attacking the College Republicans are Muhammad Abdullah and Jeremy Stern. Both are students at City College of San Francisco. Jeremy Stern is the president of the Muslim Student Association at CCSF. The charges have been dropped against Abdullah but the DA is pursuing charges against Jeremy Stern for battery and obstructing a peace officer. The lefties are demanding the charges be dropped. It is unconscionable to allow a student to attack a political adversary and not face consequences. We need to make sure the charges stick and that Stern is punished for engaging in violence as a means to silence political opposition.

SFSU Walk-out: Double standards run rampant, an exercise in futility.

As expected the group organizing the walk-out was quick to tie in fee hikes to other national issues such as the bank bailouts. They also made sure to lace the event with liberal amounts of marxist philosophy. At least we know they're paying attention in class. While on campus there were about 500 students in attendance. Once the group started marching that number dwindled to 250-300 people. No surprise, their claims of being a "militant" and "radical" organization are just words.

I guess they think marching up 3 blocks of 19th avenue with a police escort is militant.

Here we see one of the leaders of students for unity and power cordially coordinating logistics with "the man." Cooperating with the police....how militant.

Every event the College Republicans hold in Malcolm X plaza is strictly regulated by the school. We are required to comply with all regulations regarding sound amplifications, where we can post signs, etc. We are consistently told that any failure to comply will result in our event being shut down. This is OSPLD's official sound policy:

"At outdoor events on campus, the amount of amplification is controlled through the use of a sound meter to ensure that sound not exceed 75 decibels 25 feet from the amplified sound source. All amplified sound events on Malcolm X Plaza must use the CCSC sound system and coordinate with the Center’s sound technicians. It is the responsibility of the sponsoring student organization/department and their performers in collaboration with OSPLD staff and CCSC technicians to not exceed the 75-decibel level."

Whether or not the policy is bad is open to debate. But if it's going to be enforced for one group, why isn't it enforced on all groups?

Here we see an organizer rallying students using a non-approved megaphone.

There was also a group of students playing drums throughout the entire event. The drummers marched around the campus while creating playing music. We're not opposed to the use of megaphones or drums during rallies and marchers, we'd just like to be able to use megaphones without the school shutting us down. The group also posted signs in unauthorized locations. Again, we think students should be allowed to post signs where ever they want to, but if the school is going to enforce the rules during CR events, they should be enforce the rules during all events.

The walk-out accomplished nothing. Over the past 4 years SFSU has had at least one walk-out a year. Other than making the participants feel warm and tingly on the inside, they're absolutely worthless. Less than 2% of the student body participated in the walk-out. It was an unequivocal failure.

Yet again, radicals high-jack an otherwise legit cause and alienate most student.

Every year there's a "walk-out" at SFSU to protest fee increases. Every year fees go up and every year students protest. But at a school of over 30,000 students there never seems to be widespread interest in the actions. Enter the "radically-minded" and "militant" group students for unity & power. An unabashedly lefty group that wants to tie budget cuts in with every other grievance under the sun. If you go to the walk-out tomorrow expect the speakers to go on and on about the war in Iraq, the struggle of Palestinians, the sexism perpetuated by men in this country and the horrific decimation of the Alaskan house fly population at the hands of a greedy corporation. (Ok, we made the last one up.)

The College Republicans would absolutely join a coalition to lobby Sacramento for more funding if said coalition didn't simply use the issue to push another agenda. The reason these walkouts top out at 500 or so students (less than 2% of the student population) is because leftists are completely incapable of sticking to one issue and seeing it through to an actual change in policy. They draw us in with a promise of "taking it to Sacramento" and "fighting for more funding" only to ambush us with long tirades about the evils of capitalism and the fascistic policies perpetrated by the Bush administration.

To the organizers of the walk-out: Fighting against fee hikes is something all students are willing to do. We're all poor (yes even the fat cat republicans) and don't want our fees to go up. But when you attack the political sensibilities of a majority of students, both Democrats and Republicans, your massive student movement dwindles to the pathetic displays we've seen over the last few years. It's going to take more than 50 socialists and 300 bored freshman showing up between classes to effect REAL change at SFSU.

I encourage you to reach out to the College Republicans, the College Democrats and any other political active organization on campus a build a real coalition. Imagine the power of Republicans and Socialists standing together and demanding our voices be heard....that's a real movement and THAT is the only way to fight the fees.

The College Republicans look to the leadership of the Student Organizations in Action (SOA) slate to turn over a new leaf in campus politics. Our goal as an organization is to reach out and connect with the campus community as a whole. We feel that the SOA slate offers the best opportunity for our group to become more mainstream in campus politics and activism. Cobe Obeah, candidate for ASI President, has proactively approached the College Republicans on issues of mutual interest. He has shown a willingness to set aside political and ideological differences in an effort to further the cause of students from all walks of life. It is with this in mind that the College Republicans enthusiastically endorse Cobe and the SOA slate for ASI leadership.

The Republican Party learned a hard lesson in technology during the 2008 Presidential election. Realizing Obama obliterated the Grand Old Party by using all the shiny new technology he could get his hands on, our party was left desperately searching for our own plan.

The College Republicans have been effectively using new media since 2004. I recall many conversations with a multitude of Republicans where I practically begged them to use Facebook, or the now passé MySpace. I was told time and again that these were just passing fads and that "all the tech stuff" was unproven and therefore not worth the GOP's time. Republicans were completely unaware that these "passing fads" were exactly the opposite. Young voters get their news, TV and radio from the internet. They access politics almost exclusively on the web. It’s impossible to reach large numbers of young voters through old school methods.
While there were several token attempts at using new media, by-and-large we instead stuck with only the old school: precinct-walking, phone banking, etc. It is incredibly important to compliment pre-existing and successful campaign methods with the new, web-based techniques. It wasn't until the numbers came in from the 2008 election that the Republican Party realized the error of its ways. Obama had beaten us in the 18-25 demographic by nearly 3-1. College Republicans know that our message is capable of resonating with many young voters. However, when some in our party refuse to accept the reality of a complete paradigm shift in modern communication, it's no wonder the Democrats took us out back behind the tool shed. Now we have a party frantically searching for our answer to the Obama campaign strategy.

Politicians, leadership and local organizers are running around the state throwing out catch phrases and buzzwords in an attempt to re-brand the party as technology friendly. The sad and embarrassing reality is that even the so-called technology experts in our party just don't get it.

There are three fundamental flaws with the Republican Parties new media strategy.

First is a basic misunderstanding about what new media and web 2.0 actually are. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and the rest exist to build an online neighborhood of interested parties. Rather than the old approach of pushing our message to supporters, we must bring them into our online community and encourage them to become a part of our movement. We’re supposed to be making friends and influencing people, not spamming them.

Second is the sporadic and awkward implementation of technology. Many campaigns use technology for the sake of using technology. If a group or candidate doesn't understand how or why to use a technology they shouldn't be using it. For example, campaigns create blogs but never update them, they create a Facebook group but never contact their supporters. I’ve also seen countless campaign YouTube videos that are long, static and boring. The hit count means the viewer clicked on the video, it doesn’t mean they sat and watched it. These are just a few examples of the Republican Party using tech without actually using tech.

Third and finally is that the party doesn't realize that new technology is absolutely useless if they don't give us something to rally around and fight for.
The party must bring to the table fire-breathing conservative rhetoric to motivate young voters and bring us into the fold using new technologies. The amount of potential energy and excitement in the youth vote is incalculable. The party needs to understand that what they call new media, young voters call media. We watch more TV on the internet than we do on cable. We get almost all of our news from the web. In the tech era, the seeds of change are planted in cyberspace. Until the GOP decides to treat technology as THE way, instead of A way, to reach young voters, we will continue to lag far behind our political adversaries. There is no better time for the Republican Party to embrace new media because we are now the outsider party. Obama is the establishment; we are change. Over the next 2 to 6 years, this will slowly become the political reality, and if we are communicating that to younger voters in effective ways, we will win their vote and put Republicans back in power.

California Tax Revolt 2009

Popular radio talk show hosts Jon Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of the Jon and Ken show on KFI-AM organized a massive tax revolt in Fullerton, Ca on March 7th. With their growing number of listeners the event turned out numbers topping 15,000 in some estimates. The passage of California's new budget in February marks tax increases upwards of $16 billion, making California the highest taxed state in the nation. With Californians struggling to hold their lives together in midst of a down economy, they gathered in unprecedented numbers to show Sacramento they will not stand for politician's outrageous spending sprees while the people are stuck with the ever growing bill. Many showed up to protest Proposition 1A in the upcoming special elections in May which disguises itself as a spending cap for Sacramento, but allows spending increases whenever taxes are raised. Prop 1A also serves to extend the newly implemented tax increases another two years possibly resulting in as much another $20 billion. There are already law suits directed at Sacramento law makers in response to Prop 1A in their beginning stages.

With Sacramento democrat and moderate politicians showing no restraint, many in the crowd came to organize massive recall efforts. Representatives of newly formed recall organizations such as Recall Maldanado, Recall Jeff Miller and Recall Assemblymember Anthony Adams cycled through the crowd throughout the day to gather signatures. Some recall efforts were not so kind as to gather signatures as the crowd joined in chants of "off with their heads" while many in the crowd offered a dummy head of Governor Schwarzenegger which they speared at the end of a pole. Numerous people offered Arnold Schwarzenegger memorabilia to a pile which were then smashed with a sledgehammer.

Tax revolt efforts are beginning to prop up all across the state, with events such as the recent Tea Parties. The Howard Jarvis Tax Payers Association has promised a fast an easy way to organize and get involved with these events with the launch of their new website tomorrow Moday, March 9th. Anyone wanting to get involved should visit their website or even organize their own events no matter how big or small. The coming months will offer much more of this response if Sacramento does not start showing some discipline, which doesn't seem to be the trend.

Protesters claim student conduct code trumps first amendment in editorial.

We can't help but wonder where these students get their crazy ideas. Someone, somewhere convinced the students who were offended by the CRs stomping on a Hamas flag to argue that the school's anti-discrimination policy should justify a police intervention during our event. WHAT? That's just outright insanity. The full editorial is posted below. We've picked out some of the highlights of the article.

- Students are shocked that we were "allowed" to step on a hamas flag unabated.

- The offended students wanted the police and administrators to physically stop us from standing on the flag.

- The protesters were "patiently negotiating" with the CRs. (our video clearly shows it was anything but patient negotiation)

- They think the schools conduct codes trumps the first amendment and we should be punished.

- The offended parties feel "uneasy" attending a school where " hateful demonstrations of intolerance are condoned and indeed protected."

- The College Republicans instilled fear in the protesters and discriminated against them by stepping on a hamas flag.

- They now feel vulnerable because the police did nothing to stop the College Republicans.

The message was, of course, published "in solidarity" with the Palestinian club, the native american club, and the "give back half of the US to Mexico because we're butt hurt we lost a war" club, AKA MEChA. For some reason the Black Student Union and the league of filipino students signed on to the letter as well. I find it hard to believe the decision to endorse the letter was put to a vote in those two organizations.

The Golden Gate [X]Press has a long history of not liking the College Republicans. They gleefully throw their literary red meat to intellectually bankrupt masses at SFSU. While there have been occasions in the paper's past where logic has overcome politics, by-and-large the publication has an institutionalized disdain for all things Republican. With this in mind we've decided to predict what tomorrow's editorial will say about the CRs recent anti-hamas rally at SFSU.

GatorGOP's editorial predictions:
-The CRs are hateful racists (possible use of the words nazi and fascist)
-It's the Republican's fault things got violent at the event.

Make sure you're sitting down before you read the article posted in the Socialist Worker about the controversial anti hamas event at SFSU. If you're not firmly planted to a chair you'll get dizzy from all the spinning.

Highlights from the article:
"(The College Republicans) were holding a rally in support of the recent escalation of Israel's war on Palestinians."
Truth: We told the crowd several time we were not supporting or opposing any action taken by Israel. We were simply there to educate students about Hamas.

"The SFSU College Republicans have a history of racist theatrics on campus. They were temporarily sanctioned last year for a similar rally in which they stood on a Muslim flag."
Truth: The College Republicans were NEVER sanctioned for any period of time. The school attempted to sanction our group the first time we stepped on a Hamas flag in 2007 only to find themselves on the wrong end of the Alliance Defense Fund, the ACLU and a federal judge. They defended the unconstitutional speech codes the used in their attempts to sanction us all the way to Federal court. Truth: The protesters surrounded our table for over an hour and the police didn't do anything. The police would not just arrest people for standing around a table. Furthermore the quote implies the two arrested protesters were detained randomly and for no reason. They allegedly assaulted the CRs, resisted arrest and committed battery on a peace officer. It's also VERY obvious in the video posted by the CRs that the protesters rushed the table. It is clear that the police are underneath the CRs canopy pushing people away from the canopy. Meaning the protesters rushed at the CRs and the police pushed them back. Only a socialist would argue with irrefutable video evidence.

Arrested protester "K Real" posts video response, accuses CRs of committing felony.

One of the protesters arrested last Wednesday for assaulting the College Republicans posted a video response to the CRs. The video was only up for a few hours before it was removed. We watched it only once before it was removed but were able to take some notes on the themes of the video.

-K real accused the College Republicans of committing a felony in the form of a hate crime by stepping on the Hamas flag.
-He reiterated the claim that he "prevented something larger from happening" by stealing the flag. Presumably he's referring to his previous claim that the CRs actions could have caused a global boycott of the United States.
-K Real accused the police of conspiring to arrest him. He claims the officers plotted to accuse him of battery for simply "bumping" into an officer.
-He comes just short of claiming police brutality.

We can't say we're surprised the video was taken down. K Real made an absolute fool out of himself throughout the video. The original video was over 10 minutes in length. If the video is reposted it will surely exclude some of the more outrageous and foolish statements featured in the original clip. It looks like someone on his side got to him very quickly and advised him to remove the video because it would hurt more than help.

Blog reader confirms rumor: Protesters will claim CRs STOLE Hamas flag used in protest.

A commenter who calls himself "kevin" left the following comment on a recent post:
"I'm also assuming that you weren't dumb enough to take the flag, so you have to first clearly articulate how you came about getting one (handicraft, purchase etc). The meme that you took someone else's flag is spreading and you need to bash it down hard. "

The flag was hand crafted using green foam core board and white paint. We have receipts showing the purchase of the materials. We also have the printout used to trace the characters onto the foam core that were then used as an outline to paint the characters on the board. If the protesters make a claim that we stole the flag from someone, we will gladly release irrefutable evidence that the flag is ours. This tactic is designed to help the protesters counter the CRs in the public relations war. They will use this unsubstantiated claim to assert that they were simply retrieving property that was there's to begin with and therefore no crime was committed. This ridiculous claim will also be used to make the CRs appear at fault in the matter. The protesters will say "If they hadn't stolen the flag, there wouldn't have been trouble."

We will be 100% clear:
The flag is ours. We made it using materials from a party supply store. There is absolutely no truth what-so-ever to the claim that our organization stole the flag used in our anti-Hamas protest.

We would have been shocked if punishment had been sought in the case. The KKK burned crosses to warn of impending violence and used it as a tool of their terror. It was YOU who committed acts of violence, not us. As for the "tens of thousands of people who adore you," if thinking that helps you get to sleep at night, more power to you.

Last week the College Republicans were attacked by a group of radical students on campus. Some protesters openly supported Hamas. One Hamas supporter leaned in to the table and said, "Of course I support Hamas, I voted for hamas! I fought for hamas! How dare you!" Some media outlets and bloggers think this is the opening salvo in a battle to suppress "offensive" speech at sfsu. But the frightening reality is that this kind of thing has been going on at SFSU for quite some time now. The following is a timeline of events that have taken place at SFSU that involve radicals trying to silence political opposition using violence or threats of violence.

2002: Jewish students holding a "peace in the middle east" rally are attacked by members of the palestinian club at SFSU.

After posting this flyer all over campus before the event, the group showed up looking for a fight.

The director of the Jewish studies department, Professor Laurie Zoloth, was at the event that day and wrote about it on a blog. She describes the scene in Malcolm X plaza as the rally organized by Hillel began to wrap up.

"50 students who remained praying in a minyan for the traditional afternoon prayers, or chatting, or cleaning up after the rally, talking -- were surrounded by a large, angry crowd of Palestinians and their supporters. But they were not calling for peace. They screamed at us to "go back to Russia" and they screamed that they would kill us all, and other terrible things. They surrounded the praying students, and the elderly women who are our elder college participants, who survived the holocaust, who helped shape the Bay Area peace movement, only to watch as a threatening crowd shoved the Hillel students against the wall of the plaza." "As the counter demonstrators poured into the plaza, screaming at the Jews to "Get out or we will kill you" and "Hitler did not finish the job," I turned to the police and to every administrator I could find and asked them to remove the counter-demonstrators from the Plaza, to maintain the separation of 100 feet that we had been promised. The police told me that they had been told not to arrest anyone, and that if they did, "it would start a riot." I told them that it already was a riot. Finally, Fred Astren, the Northern California Hillel Director and I went up directly to speak with Dean Saffold, who was watching from her post a flight above us. She told us she would call in the SF police. But the police could do nothing more than surround the Jewish students and community members who were now trapped in a corner of the plaza, grouped under the flags of Israel, while an angry, out of control mob, literally chanting for our deaths, surrounded us." 2004: College Republicans tabling in the quad are surrounded by an angry mob, as protesters hurl bottles and death threats.

We were able to contact and interview members of the College Republicans who were there for the event. Believe it or not this scene was repeated twice over a span of 3 days. The first mob scene was the day before the presidential election and the second was the day after the election. They tell us that the second day was much worse because George Bush had been re-elected which upset the lefties. The police had to make a circle around the table to protect the CRs from the group. The College Republicans had to be given a police escort off campus for their own safety.

2006: Violence narrowly avoided at College Republican's anti-terrorism rally.

"Under the watch of at least five campus police officers, including Police Chief Kirk Gaston, the College Republican-sponsored rally in support of the war on terror at Malcolm X Plaza morphed into a heated and emotional exchange of words. Some audience members said they thought the College Republicans were being insensitive to their religion"

Many CRs who were at this event are still in the club. During an event that included speeches on both domestic and foreign terrorists, the CRs stood on the flags of hezbollah and hamas as a form of symbolic protest while they discussed the terrorists activities of the two organizations. On more than one occasion the protesters tried to get on stage and told the CRs there would be a fight if they stepped on the flag. Luckily for all parties cooler heads prevailed after an incredibly heated moment. The protesters then filed a complaint with the school in an attempt to remove the College Republicans from campus.

Individuals who think the arabic script on the Hamas flag was only reason our table was surrounded by angry protesters last week are dangerously mistaken. The groups that show up to protest CR events are there to literally block the College Republicans from speaking to other students. They formed a physical wall around our table to make sure no one could get through to hear our message about Hamas. In 2002 the jewish students weren't stepping on a Hamas flag, yet they were attacked anyway. In 2004, the College Republicans were simply tabling in the quad to build support for their candidate, yet they were attacked anyway. In all 4 of the aforementioned cases the leftist message is clear "Shut up, or you're going to get hurt."

An anonymous source from inside the Palestinian Club and the Socialist club at SFSU has provided the College Republicans with the following information:

In response to the College Republican's anti-Hamas event (video below) held on Wednesday the "offended parties" have banded together to push the school to punish the College Republicans for throwing shoes at the Hamas Flag. Over the next few days the coalition will release a statement making the following demands:

-Authorities must drop all charges pending against Muhammad Abdullah and Jeremy Stern, the two protestors that assaulted the College Republicans and stole their property.

-The school must sanction/punish the College Republicans for throwing shoes at the Hamas flag.

-The groups must organize a forum to "educate" students about what forms of speech are not acceptable according to the offended parties, specifically the always ambiguous "hate speech."

So far we've confirmed that the General Union of Palestinian Students and Muslim Student Association are the main players in the push to ban/punish forms of speech that could potentially offend students. By characterizing "offensive" speech as hate speech they will demand that the school implement new rules to "keep this from happening again."

Giving his first press conference as the Commander in Chief, Barrack Obama quickly becomes the whiny child who just isn’t getting his way. Opposition has flooded Obama’s economic stimulus/spending bill even before its official announcement before his inauguration, and he is quick to show his true colors as this strong disapproval further delays his hope of bringing change.
Being swift to trick the public, President Obama begins with a lengthy speech of desperate situations lasting several minutes. All in an attempt to convince the people that government is their only hope of recovery from this economic calamity. Using the usual tactics of the liberal left, Obama informs the hall of inquisitive journalists “the federal government is the only entity left with the resources to jolt our economy back into life." Despite the fact that the federal government, first of all, no longer has resources to spare as a result of the substantial deficit it has amassed, and second, it draws resources away from the productive private sector to fund its notoriously inefficient and wasteful programs, often in attempt to “aid” the private sector from which it originally stole from.
President Obama further continues to prove his own naivety in his attempts to convince the audience that “what got us into this mess, initially, were banks taking exorbitant wild risks." What he fails to mention is the reasons behind private banks taking said risks, in the form of artificial interest rates and government insured lenders, which encourage mal-investment and high risk lending. It’s aggravating to see all the economists of the world theorizing on why this high risk lending ever took place when the FED exists to artificially manipulate the market to encourage or discourage investment.
Talks of bipartisanship quickly become his weak and petty defense with frequent references to the three republicans working in his cabinet (and we all know what astounding character judgment Obama has shown in appointing cabinet members). With only meager arguments to support his bipartisan efforts, a once well versed and powerful speaker becomes troubled and uneasy with "um's" and "uhs". As usual without his trusty teleprompter Obama seems to use every question as an opportunity to stray off topic to scare the audience with more terrifying statistics, while even the CNN text footer is wondering “are you moving away from the emphasis on bipartisanship on the stimulus plan?” However, not entirely wasting the well thought questions from the media Obama makes a valid point in that “if all we’re doing is spending and not making things, then over time other countries are gonna get tired of lending us money”. Much like the American people are getting tired of giving money to the state which seems to be able to spend all our money and produce next to nothing
One point of giving credit where credit is due is President Obama’s creativity. While neoliberals of the past use any strategy available to demonize private enterprise, Obama simply calls out the unjust, evil executives of the free market . However his desperate attempts to appeal to both sides have Obama recurrently referring to the private sector as being the major contributor of job creation as part of this plan. All the while outlining the long list of federally constructed and dependent jobs he will create, while at the same time suggesting that tax cuts to the wealthy individuals who create jobs in the private sector do not help the economy.
The so-called recovery and reinvestment plan proposed by the Obama administration will only serve in capital consumption, which will be taken forcibly from hard working tax payers who have already been robbed of so much by greedy bureaucrats. President Obama has made his intentions very clear and his policies of change will, not surprisingly be more of the same policies of over spending, dismissal of the free market, expansion of government regulation, rejection of sound money, and destruction of personal liberty.

It's none other than alias man himself Rafael Schiller-Laden, AKA Rafael Malkin, AKA Giovanni Jackson, AKA Fletch. He's the definitely-not-a-communist activist from world can't wait who graduated from the uber-conservative academic institution known as UC Santa Cruz. His essay entitled "Revolution on Trial: A Critique of Post-Mao Gender Discourse" won him recognition from his alma mater.

Being a professional activists/community organizer it's only natural that Rafael Schiller-Laden Malik Jackson would find his way to downtown oakland to take part in the riots against Bart police in the wake of a recent shooting at a bart station in fruitvale. In this videohe can be seen whipping up a mob as they torch a dumpster and attempt to tip over a police car. This is now the second time he has been arrested for sticking it to the man.

He's lucky they only charged him with obstructing and interfering with a peace officer. In any other city in the country he would have been charged with assault on a peace officer. Term Limits, Lobbyists, and Democracy

The Republican Party establishment came out in force this winter to oppose Proposition 93, the self-serving term limits measure sponsored by the California Legislature's Democratic leadership that would have altered the number of years Members could spend time in the Legislature from 14 years to 12 years, but allowing them to spend all the time in a single house (six two-year terms in the Assembly or three four-year terms in the Senate, or any combination thereof).

The measure's most controversial clause was not, however, this sensible change in term limits. Assembly Speaker Fabian Nuńez, the initiative's principal supporter and benefactor, included a "grandfather" clause to allow current Members to surpass the current 14 year limit and run for re-election in 2008. Due to this much criticized provision, Prop. 93 went down in flames yesterday at the ballot box as voters reacted, quite logically, to the self-serving nature of the measure.

Given that, it's still important to note that the main idea behind Prop. 93, term limits reform, is still desperately needed. Currently, the California State Legislature has a revolving door for new Members as older, more experienced politicians get termed out. The Assembly welcomed a record number of new Members to the chamber in 2006. This isn't just a problem for Capital staffers who have to learn 30 new faces, it's a problem for democracy in California.

Judging from yesterday's ballot, most voters might think that all California legistators do is write Indian Gaming Compacts. Many voters might ask themselves, why should these ineffective, lazy, and self-serving politicians deserve to spend more time in the Senate or Assembly? The truth is the Legislature is ineffective, to be sure, but term limits has only exasperated this problem. Instead of working on sensible legislation or balancing our ever-growing state budget, California legislators spend most of their time raising money for their inevitable next election. Just got elected to the California Assembly? That's great, but don't get too comfortable because you will be gone in six years.

What's the effect of this political version of musical chairs? Politicians are far more reluctant to tackle the big issues of our day: redistricting, budget reform, health care reform, etc. Instead, politicians pander to the lobbyists whose big pocket books will make their next election possible. Want to reform the prison system? Better make sure the CCPOA is on board or expect your future opponents to be flush with union cash in their campaign fund.

The sad reality is that while term limits attempted to shift the power away from corrupt Sacramento politicians to the people, the real effect has been a large growth in the influence of lobbyists and the special interets they represent. Nobody may mourn the death of Prop. 93 but we should all hope that Nuńez and Perata didn't take reasonable term limits reform down with it.

Often touted as rock solid proof that the invasion of Iraq had left an unimaginable swath of destruction on the Iraqi people, The Lancet study claimed in late 2006 that the US invasion had resulted in over 650,000 Iraqi deaths. Turns out that anti-war activists, MoveOn.org crony and multi-billionaire George Soros provided over half the funding for the study which surveyed thousands of Iraqis in 47 areas of the country. We knew the study we bullshit in 2006 though, it put the number of dead Iraqis at ten times every other estimate that had been done to that point. Slowly but surely, and like clock work, the number given kept going up and up every month after the study. Soon we had lefties on campus telling us that the Iraq war had left over 2,000,000 Iraqi's dead. To be clear, every life lost in the invasion, American or Iraqi is to be mourned and remembered. However, this "study" illustrates just how far the left is willing to go in order to destroy George Bush's presidency and to destroy America's reputation around the world. BREAKING: SFSU administration may have broken the law with Sean Penn event

The following is taken from accounts given to GatorGOP by individuals close to the Campus Police Department, The College Democrats, the Creative arts department and eyewitness accounts.
The flyers for the "Sean Penn endorses Dennis Kucinich" event clearly stated that the event was being sponsored by the College Democrats at San Francisco State.

But as GatorGOP and several others witnessed on the day of the event, the College Democrats showed up to the event in full force and very angry at the Kucinich campaign for putting their clubs name on the flyer. An argument ensued in the front of Knuth Hall where the event was to be held. During the heated discussion between the Kucinich campaign and the college democrats, the Dems demanded that the Kucinich campaign take down all the flyers bearing the clubs name and announce to the crowd that the Dems had nothing to do with the event. The Kucinich campaign arrogantly scoffed at the Dems and told them there was no way they would do such a thing. Once seated inside the event, GatorGOP witnessed the same Dems, visually upset, enter the Knuth hall from the back entrance and walk up on stage and towards the backstage area. There our eyewitness from the Creative arts department picks up the story.
The Dems engaged in an impromptu meeting with Creative arts events coordinator Mary Ford, Campus Police Chief Kirk Gaston, Kucinich campaign staffers and Associate Vice President of Student Affairs Eugene Chelberg. The College Democrats reiterated to those in this meeting that they had no knowledge of the event prior to late Thursday evening and were not willing to sign on as sponsors for it. The dems were then told by Mary Ford that Sean Penn was already at SFSU and that if they refused to sign the paperwork (which was conveniently already on location and mostly filled out requiring only a signature to be official) that the school would be forced to cancel the event which would be an embarrassment not only for the school but also for the College Democrats since their name was already on the flyer. The Dems still refused to sign the paperwork. Mary Ford suggested a "disclaimer" of sorts to be read at the begining of the event to state that the Dems sponsored the event in the interest of free speech and did not support Kucinich or Penn. Under duress and VERY visibly upset, the Dems agreed and signed the paperwork. With the paperwork signed the event started almost immediately thereafter. The disclaimer was read quickly and condescendingly before Sean Penn came out to speak. These events raise some serious questions. Why did the school need the dems to sponsor this event? Why weren't the Dems given more notice? And why did the school essentially force them to sponsor the speaking engagement? The events leading up to the Friday speech may shed light on these questions.
The following are eyewitness accounts from Creative Arts staff and individuals close to the Campus police department.
According to the Creative Arts department, no one other than Director Mary Ford had any knowledge of this event prior to 11am on Friday morning, just two hours before the event. Typical events held in Knuth hall are on a calendar for all to see and planned months in advance. The audio techs that ran the sound were informed they would be needed for the event the day of the event. Knuth Hall is the second most difficult room to schedule for events, second only to the very large McKenna hall which is right next to Knuth Hall. It takes student groups MONTHS of advance planning to use the room. The only explanation for an event of this magnitude becoming feasible to accomplish on such short notice is to circumvent normal channels of preparation. The only way to do that is to be, or know someone, very high ranking in the campus administration that can schedule a room with no notice and schedule staff to work the event on such short notice. Conversations between Campus PD and Vice President of Student affairs Penny Saffold at the event revealed that even Saffold was unaware of the event until the morning of.
The most startling revelation comes from the Campus Police department who asserted that they had no knowledge of the event until 11am on Friday. Having only hours to prepare for security at an event featuring a wildly popular celebrity, campus PD essentially sent every available officer to the Sean Penn event (about 5 officers) leaving the campus without adequate Police Services for several hours. There would have been virtually no way to respond to any type of criminal activity on campus between 11am and 2pm, other than to call SFPD, which would have drastically increased response time. It is well known that even events without celebrities that are planned by political student groups in Malcolm X are attended by dozens of Police officers. There were more officers at the SFSU 9/11 memorial than there were at the Sean Penn event.
According to a Kucinich staffer who spoke with GatorGOP on condition of anonymity, Kucinich National Finance Director Marcus Brandon contacted the College Democrats around 5pm on Thursday night to ask them to sponsor the event. The dems called back and declined the offer in a message left on Mr. Brandon's cell phone. Brandon did not return the call until after 10am Friday morning claiming he was "aware from his phone for several hours." Yea, right, a campaign staffer separating them self from their cell phone.....that's believable. He informed the Democrats it was too late to say no and that the event was already moving ahead as scheduled.

The "SO WHAT" of it all:
Under Federal Election Commission laws, the school is barred from endorsing or sponsoring any candidate for Federal office UNLESS they make an equal offer to every candidate for that office. Meaning that if the school sponsored a Kucinich endorsement event at SFSU, they would have to allow every candidate, Republican, Democrat or otherwise to use the same room for the same amount of time during the election cycle. The only other way it would be legal for only Kucinich to use the room would be if the Kucinich campaign paid FULL PRICE to rent the room and for security which would undoubtedly total in the thousands of dollars. Enter the College Democrats. As a student group, they pay a significantly reduced room renal fee and are not charge for security for events they sponsor. They also are not regulated by the FEC so they can bring just Kucinich if they want to without being forced to make an offer to other candidates. The school told the Dems to sponsor the event or else, because the knew they'd be in violation of the law if they didn't charge Kucinich full price for room rental and security at event not sponsored by a student group. SFSU would essentially be making a MASSIVE in-kind contribution to a Presidential campaign. And of course with the academic year being over in two weeks (meaning no students will be on campus to come to other events) and the first presidential primary just 3-4 weeks away, it would be impossible to make an equal offer to every candidate for president.

It is very likely that if the College Democrats argue that they were forced to sign paperwork under duresss, the school will face legal proceedings for making a rather sizeable in-kind donation to the Dennis Kucinich campaign. And since the donation was made from a public school funded by tax-payer dollars....ANY tax-payer would be able to file suit against San Francisco State University.

It's embarrassing when other campus newspapers are picking up on a story happening right here at SFSU that our own campus paper has yet to do a story on. The College Republican legal victory over the CSU systems unconstitutional speech codes has not been written about in the SFSU campus paper once, even though the case has been ongoing for 6 months. Enter the Stanford daily. Staff writer Theo Milonopoulos has written a NEWS article for their campus paper about our legal victory and how it may effect students on the Stanford campus. Imagine that, writing a news story in a campus paper about a legal case that will create sweeping changes to conduct codes on campuses all over the state. A student paper writing stories about news items that effect students? Wow, almost sounds like journalism. I hope our friends at the [x] Press are taking notes.

Russia & Venezuela head to the polls

Over the next 48 hours or so, both Russian and Venezuelan citizens will head to the voting booth to determine the course their nations will take for the next several years. These elections should be of great interest to the average American.

In Russia, Vladimir Putin's tenure is coming to a close, but his political party, United Russia, will remain dominant in Russian politics. Putin has expressed interest in staying involved in government. He is considering the position of Prime Minister. Putin's opposition, led by chess master Gary Kasparov, has accused Putin of leading Russia towards becoming an authoritarian state.

Russia presents a paradox. No doubt, Putin has consolidated power and is the most powerful leader since the end of the cold war. He has control that is leaps and bounds beyond anything that Boris Yeltsin attained. Russia's economy has been revived and Russia is rapidly returning to the forefront of international politics. On the other hand, Putin has jailed and censored his opposition and his administration has been implicated in several international incidents, including murder.

In Venezuela, Hugo Chavez' constitutional reforms are being voted upon. These reforms would, among other things, eliminate term limits and give Chavez the ability to declare extended states of emergency which could be use to censor opposition. This should prove to be a bitterly polarized election.

What I cannot understand is how the American left has come to embrace Chavez. Chavez has already done the sorts of things that the fringe left accuses George W. Bush of doing. While the American left accuses Bush of restricting civil liberties, Chavez has already done this by revoking broadcasting licenses of media stations that oppose him. The American left thinks that Bush considers all of his opposition to be traitors. Chavez has openly called his opponents traitors. Frankly, I wonder if the "progressives" in this country are so blinded by their hatred for Bush that they have reached the mentality that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."

Democracy is in action all around the world today. Let us hope that in Russia, the elections are truly free and fair. In Venezuela, let us hope that the people carefully consider what giving Chavez nearly unrestrained power may mean and vote accordingly.

Blinded by anti-GOP rage, [X] Press editor misses glaring typo

Chalk this one up to a complete lack of attention to detail or perhaps just outright laziness. The [X] Press has left another GLARING typo in the headline of one of their latest opinion pieces. Yet again, the services of a grammatically savvy 10 year old would have caught this one. According to [X] Press writer Matt Dear, the Republican party is no longer the "GOP," now the party will be called the "FOP." The "F" and "G" keys are right next to each other on the keyboard, so its no wonder the typo was made, but the reasons why it was left for print and was missed by every single editor are less clear. Of course this single typo isn't THAT big of a deal, but as our readers know, these kinds of typos are common place in the campus paper. They reflect poorly not only on the students who write these articles, but also on the school itself. GatorGOP does not like doing the [X] Press editors job for them, but if we don't, who will?

GOP Royal Rumble: Mike's Thoughts

The CNN/Youtube debate was a lively joust between the top GOP Presidential contenders.

Mitt Romney did well, but on some occasions he seemed to be trying to dodge questions. He gave broad, generalized answers in regards to gays in the military, religion, and torture. Mitt has the most to lose in these debates. He is ahead in the polls in some of the early primary states, but Huckabee and the rest of the pack are not far behind. Frankly he has been out front for so long that it was only a matter of time before his support wanes and controversy and discontent surface.

Mike Huckabee: I am no fan of Governor Huckabee, but I will give him great credit. He performed very well in this debate. I would say he was the winner in terms of poise, directness and in connecting with the audience. He stuck to his guns and did not appear to be openly dodging any questions. I do not agree with some of his positions, but no one can deny that he seems honest and genuine, which will go a long way in a political campaign. He has come out of nowhere to become a top contender in only a couple of weeks, and I think that he has done this because he comes across as sincere and straightforward.

Rudy Giuliani came out firing away against Mitt Romney early on in the debate. Giuliani is ahead in the polls in many of the moderate and liberal states such as California and New York. He needs to try and upset Romney in one of the early states in order to avoid a drop in momentum. His attacks against Romney are clearly designed to try and bring down Mitt and keep his momentum going into super Tuesday despite probably losing early states like Iowa. However, Rudy seemed to answer every question by tying back into NYC crime statistics or 9/11. I, and I would think many others, are becoming tired of this seemingly canned response.

John McCain did an acceptable job, and took charge on questions near and dear to his heart. His answers to questions relating to military matters were strong. However, he needs to try and avoid becoming a one-subject candidate.

Fred Thompson is slipping out of the running, in my opinion. He did not do well. His folksy personality does not lend itself to a debate format that requires concise and direct answers. Thompson seems to do best off camera when he is out meeting and greeting potential supporters. This seems strange considering his background as an actor.

I will not address Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, or Tom Tancredo. Frankly, they just don't have a shot in hell of winning the primary. Hunter and Tancredo are one-subject issues, and Paul simply has a small but loud support base. He is not unlike Howard Dean in that respect.

[X] Press staff: First amendment is for cowards

Reading the X Press is like watching an obese 10 year old in a little league game, despite their teammates chants of encouragement from the dugout, they continue to strike out in a most embarrassing fashion. Which leaves onlookers wondering, why don't they just stop trying and save themselves the social shame of their feeble attempts at journalistic glory? In the most recent edition of the campus paper, the editorial staff wrote an opinion piece about the College Republican's recent legal victory over the CSU system. Which is ironic in some senses because throughout the 6 months of legal proceedings they did not write a news piece about it once. Apparently the College Republican's legal battle to weaken unconstitutional speech codes isn't worthy of the news department, but still finds its way onto the desk of the opinion editor. As expected, even in a case where the College Republicans are so obviously in the right, the paper still found room for criticism and outlandsih assaults on the constiution.

This is a quote directly from the opinion piece that was published in the last editon of the [X] Press, and no, we're not making this up:
"It’s dispiriting to see our local minority opinion leaders fighting with so little bravery, cowering behind the First Amendment to protect their thoughtless and cavalier expressions of what could otherwise be thought-provoking ideas."

Done picking your jaw up off the floor? Ok. We'd like to begin the analysis by pointing out the most glaring and atrocious error in this statement. The assertion that being a College Republican in San Francisco and at SFSU is somehow easy and requires "so little bravery," and no social or spritual sacrifice is outrageous. Our group receives death threats and other threats of violence every single semester. We've been followed home, spat on and generally abused by the leftist population in San Francisco. What we do requires extraordinary fortitutude. It is unbelieveable that the staff at the X press has such a short memory. Just 3 years ago, the College Republicans were physically assaulted in a near riot after the re-election of George Bush.
Secondly, the paper knows better than to assert that our actions were "thoughtless and cavalier." They know full well that the flag stomping was calculated, and planned specifically to oppose then student body President Maire Fowler's open support of Hezbollah and Hamas. Not to mention the GUPS who continue to refuse to denounce Hamas. If indeed the flag stomping was "thoughtless and cavalier" why would we choose the flags of two terrorist groups who have not killed Americans since the 1980's, and were not even covered by the US media until the last 8 months?
Lastly, and most obvious, how DARE the [X] Press staff accuse anyone of "cowering" behind the first amendment. It doesn't matter if the person is a communist or a nazi, or anything in between, the first amenedment is a cherished and honored part of every Americans life. Perhaps next time the [X] Press writes a controversial story they will allow the school to pull the story from the paper rather than "cower" behind the first amendment in order to keep the controversial piece in the paper. What a moral outrage that, while journalists like Josh Wolf have sat in jail protesting for more first amendment freedoms for journalists all over the country, this group of daft wannabes would mock others for relying on the first amendment to protect themselves from persecution. The campus paper should, yet again, be ashamed of itself for making a mockery of journalism and, yet again, embarrassing the San Francisco State community.

Professor Klasky can't handle criticism, threatens CRs with defamation suit

At this point, it's just getting pathetic. Our criticism is just too much for Phil Klasky to handle. Instead of letting the issue die (as the CRs had done) Phil Klasky decided to continue in his attempts to forge his fabricated form of the facts on the SFSU and 29 palms communities. Phil Klasky insists he was not supporting the students who desecrated an American flag at our 9/11 memorial, despite our damming video evidence to the contrary. The following is an e-mail that was sent to a member of the 29 palms community who came on the College Republican podcast to criticize Phil Klasky for shenanigans he pulled in SoCal.

E-mail from Klasky supporter to a critic:
"Just to show I don't hate you, I am going to give you a "word to the wise." CSUF (that's California State University of San Francisco) police have intitiated an investigation of these false YouTube videos because they violate the constitutional rights of Mr. Klasky. I am sure you know they are the work of your buddy San Francisco agitator and radical Leigh Wolf. He is the one you called when he had his podcast radio show a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, the University has released a statement exhonorating Mr. Klasky of any wrong doing. The results of the invesitation by UCSF is going to allow a defamation lawsuit to go forward. Since you are the southern mouthpiece for Mr. Wolf and since you are also engaged in willful and blatant public defamation of an innocent man, you stand a very good chance of being indicted also. Should the court decide against you I guess Mr. Klasky will be able to put a lien on your property in Wonder Valley. Once again you will be the mascot for COW!
as your property from which you run ORVs illegally (remember your own children riding illegally on our public roads?) will be removed from your hands. Friend, If I were you , I would shut up. On the other hand it would be a hoot and fitting justice if all of your hatred resulted in Mr. Klasky owning your property!

There are a few components of this e-mail that prove the author is either fabricating his own reality, or parallels a third grader in mental capacity.
1: Apparently both Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) and UC San Francisco (UCSF) police are investigating us for making a youtube video. Seems like the San Francisco State (SFSU) police would be in charge of any kind of investigation of the CRs at SFSU.
2: If indeed Klasky were pursuing a defamation suit against us, that would go through a civil court not a criminal court. Why would any campus police be investigating a civil, non-criminal, matter? Answer: They wouldn't be.
3: Why would a judge in a defamation suit include a guy who called into a podcast and agreed with hosts in a case against the hosts?
4: The campus never released a "statement exonerating Klasky of any wrong doing." The dean of the College of Ethnic studies put out a statement basically saying he thought Klasky was a great guy and we should all like him.

It seems like the kind of e-mail that would be written after a 6 pack of Coors and a bag of cheetos. Liquid courage and the anonymity of the interwebs can make for some threatening language. This e-mail reeks of panic on the part of Klasky and his supporters. How desperate do you have to be to save your ass to actually threaten to take somebody's livelihood from them if they don't stop criticizing you?

GatorGOP wants to reiterate, we have never claimed Klasky broke any laws, nor have we called for him to be fired. We simply ask the Mr. Klasky be honest and open about his poltical beliefs and not try to hide from what he really is. SFSU faculty should give no quarter to dishonesty in academia.

San Francisco continues assault on JROTC

The San Francisco board of education held a public meeting to discuss the ban of the JROTC from high schools. The JROTC is a program that has an incredibly positive impact on schools and the community. It's primary focus is NOT recruitment, as many on the left would have you believe. The board of supervisors (who were nearly a half an hour late) opened up the floor for comments from those in attendance. The speakers can be split up into two very obvious groups: The levelheaded supporters of JROTC and the crazy code Pinko types that I am sadly becoming less shocked by with each passing day. Here are some of the highlights:

I would like to point out that in the pro JROTC camp were a multitude of the students, all of whom were outraged at the attempts to remove the JROTC. Those that supported the JROTC pointed out all the positive community work that JROTC created, such as when JROTC cadets volunteered in the castro and increased fundraising for the community by 140%! Not to mention the fact that JROTC funds many of the food drives and high school car washes. Former and current JROTC members gave testimonials of how the JROTC program taught them leadership, respect, responsibility, discipline and kept them away from drugs and other negative influences. One former cadet identified himself as a 54 year old gay Latino and dismissed the claim that the JROTC program is homophobic and stated that he is against the war, but that the program changed his life for the better. Perhaps the most on point speaker was a member of the friends of JROTC who asked the board to listen to the teachers and administrators who are nearly unanimous in their support of the JROTC program, but most importantly the students who are staunchly in favor of keeping the program.

And in the other corner were the whackos who had nothing better to say that basically the JROTC is essentially breeding students as fresh meet to go and die in Iraq here are a few quotes:

This first one came from an unidentified woman "WE DONT WANT ANY OF OUR VETRANS COMING HOME IN BODY BAGS, WE DONT WANT MILITARY IN SCHOOLS, WE DONT WANT JROTC, WE DONT WANT OUR CHILDREN IN THE MILITARY, JROTC MUST GO!"

I think my favorite lefty quote of the night goes to a woman who stopped just short of claiming the JROTC is blatant brainwashing: "It breaks my heart to see well meaning students to be manipulated by the JROTC program there are ways of learning peace making and conflict resolution no militarism in our schools." She continued to stress peacekeeping programs in schools as if she has any practical ideas about how that would work. The fact of the matter is JROTC is a peacekeeping program of sorts; it keeps juveniles out of gang activity, which is a REAL problem unlike the dangers of "military predators."
Most of these crazies believe the military to be this nefarious entity that preys on weak young minds. I have a question, if their minds are that weak at a high school age, why must we continue to provide funding to clearly inept teachers who made them that way? You cannot have it both ways lefties.

I will leave you with the lasting image I will take from this meeting, which was a throng of bright courageous students cheering in unison SAVE ROTC!

In a stunning show of ignorance, an anti-lynching facebook group started by students at CSU Fullerton, actually asserts that Orange County is the headquarters of the Ku Klux Klan. The group was started after 5 orange nooses were found somewhere on campus. Call us skeptical, but we have our doubts that it was indeed some racist asshole that put the nooses there, seems a little too convenient that incident took place one day before a large leftists protest on campus. Of course the facebook group doesn't call on students to contact local representatives or news agencies, but rather encourages them to participate in rallies and protests on campus that had already been scheduled before the nooses were found.

Perhaps these children read the book "Song in a Weary Throat" By Pauli Murray. In this autobiography, the african-american author talks about her grandparents being driven off of their land in Orange County, TEXAS by members of the Ku Klux Klan.

To the leftists: I know you REALLY want to feel like you matter, but you don't. You go to Fullerton and you live in one of the most Republican regions in the country. No one in your movement cares about you, and hanging nooses from a clothes line is not going to change that.

After all of our videos made their way down to the professor's second home in the very Republican 29 Palms community, Phil had some SERIOUS explaining to do. City Councilman Spear is the most liberal (if there is such a thing in 29 palms) member of the local government and even he wanted answers. Just yesterday, Professor Phil talked to Mr. Spear on the phone and sold his San Francisco soul to the conservatives in 29 Palms to save his ass and reputation down south. Problem is, his San Francisco supporters are not going to be happy when they read Councilman Spear's analysis of his conversation with Professor Phil.

Professor Klasky posted a video response to "set the record straight" about the 9/11 memorial protest and his involvement. Well, turns out at his second home, in 29 palms (predominately Republican area of the state), they don't take to kindly to Professors who demand an open mic for communist protesters to speak at a 9/11 memorial. Klasky is politically active in the desert community of 29 palms and has passed himself off as a moderate Democrat. He's also poltically active here in San Francisco where he is well known as a radical. You can't be both Phil!! Klasky removed his video, where he re-affirms his support for the communist students, as soon as he found out his Republican friends from down south had found it.

SMOKING GUN: [X] Press runs "Students Against War" press release/flyer word for word

This is simply unbelievable. The campus newspaper printed an opinion piece from "contributing editors" in this week's paper. What they don't say in the opinion is that the "contributors" are members of the radical Students Against War organization. In this flyer (seen below) obtained from a member of students against war, we can see the exact same text, word for word, between the opinion piece and this flyer created by the Students Against War. The flyer was never posted around campus, presumably to avoid the appearance of bias or preferential treatment on the part of the [X] Press staff. What does it say about our campus paper when they print, word for word, the propaganda of a leftist organizations as their own Opinion? Either they are the laziest newspaper staff in the world, or they are purposefully promoting a radical ideology.

Professor recieves death threat, blames College Republicans

By now almost 50,000 people have viewed our video that shows a bunch of radicals protesting the non-partisan 9/11 memorial at SFSU. One of the viewers was a head case from Georgia. He sent a threatening e-mail to the professor featured in our video. Of course this action is both stupid and illegal and the man should be charged with a crime and sent to prison if a judge deems that an acceptable punishment.

But lets analyze how the professor attempted to place at least partial blame on the College Republicans for the actions of some hick down south.

Quote 1 from the article:
"According to (the professor), the e-mail declaring, "We saw the video. Watch your back," found its way to his inbox shortly after Bill O'Reilly aired a segment of the event, characterizing SF State as disrespectful to 9/11 victims."

The footage of the professor was purposefully omitted from the segment that aired on fox news channel. The video had received over 35,000 hits before our segment aired on Fox News. Furthermore, College Republican Chair Leigh Wolf was very careful to separate the vast majority of SFSU from the radicals that protested the 9/11 memorial. The CRs were not "characterizing SF State as disrespectful to 9/11 victims." Despite all of this, the professor attempts to lead the reader to believe that the threat was made because we appeared on Fox News, when in reality he has zero evidence to back up such a claim.

Quote 2 from the article:
""It was a perfect example of the manipulation of the media to indicate the opposite of something that occurred," said (the Professor) of American Indian Studies, who received the intimidating e-mail."

At the event the professor was goading the protesters to go on stage and seize the microphone to speaker their minds. He made no qualms about fully supporting the actions of the radicals and encouraged them to continue in their disruption of the event. While none of this is illegal, nor should it be, his actions are accurately depicted in the video.

Quote 3 from the article:
"(the professor) said he was concerned about the potential for violence and stepped in to quell the escalating tension at the 9/11 memorial"

A complete lie. The professor stepped in to encourage more dissent amongst the protesters and, as was aforementioned, even went so far as to encourage them to take the stage, seize the microphone and end the 9/11 memorial, which he claimed "was being used to justify illegal American wars."

Quote 4 from the article:
"(the professor) said the clip was taken out of context as he tried to broker a deal between the groups, offering protesters a chance to speak following the memorial in exchange for an end to their disruption."

The professor was publicly mocking the College Republicans and College Democrats for not allowing self-described radical communists to take the stage and spew hateful, radical propaganda that openly and gleefully disrespected every person who died on 9/11. It's ridiculous to assert that, in the interest of "intellectual discourse" we should be required to allow radicals to ruin the solemness of a memorial to the victims of 9/11. Would the communists allow us to espouse the virtues of capitalism at one of their events in Malcolm X Plaza? We've tried at least twice, to no avail.

This is the very same professor who started a debate at the 9/11 memorial two years ago about the use of the flag and singing of the start spangled banner. He claimed that the flag was a divisive symbol and should not be incorporated into a 9/11 memorial. The professor is a radical. He hates the College Republicans and has for sometime. Rather than placing the blame for this threatening e-mail where it belongs, on the idiot from Georgia, he chose to try and place partial blame on the College Republicans. These are but a few examples of the lies we endure and vitriolic hatred we live with.

-12:30 Live blog: event begins. A group of Protesters stand with their backs to the event. According to them being aware of terrorism makes you a bigot. Club chair Leigh Wolf introduces speaker Brian Sussman. Sussman chastises the protesters humorously. "Start the play clock to see who is the first to yell fascist or nazi".

-12:35 Sussman: "Islamo facism first used by muslims in Algeria in the 1980s". Sussman begins to dismember the poster put out by the lefties. Sussman defining islamo-fascism: "Am I saying all muslims are fascists? Absolutely not. Islam has been used as a guise for suppression". Sussman points out example in history of christian fascism, and Italian fascism and that that does not mean all christians and Italians are fascists. Sussman: "Modern day leader and there quest for jihad". "The conversions to Islam under the Ottoman empire were at the point of the sword." He then quotes Osama Bin Laden "It is the duty of all muslims to kill Americans and their allies." Quotes the leader of Iran calling for the destruction of America, some of the protestors start applauding, Sussman suggests that they maybe should seek help.

-12:45 Sussman hammers home the point that the danger is very real and that the islamo fascists want to kill us all including women and children. Sussman mentons several acts of terrorism including the assassinations at the Munich Olympics and the 1993 World Trade Center attack. Sussman asks: "Where are the tolerant people calling for the ending of persecution of homosexuals by some of these Islamo fascists? Where is GLAD on this? We have a very real enemy and this enemy needs to be stopped". Sussman now hands off the microphone to Dr. Self, the protesters then try and disrupt by continuing obnoxious sarcastic applause.

-12:50 Dr Self quotes a muslim leader that has put down the ideals of islamo fascists such as Osama Bin Laden. Dr Self:"Our support for Israel makes us a target, and that to much of the Muslim world the word Christian means Mcdonalds and Playboy. "There is no example in Islamic history of complete plurality or equality". Dr. Self states that even if America withdraws from the muslim world and Israel is minimalized it will not end the problem of Islamo fascism. Dr Self closes with: "We need to live with our differences in the pluralism of peace".

However after running his mouth for years about "shutting down imperialism", "ending fascists oppression" and "Confronting the fascism in this country" he calmly and quickly lets a Berkeley Police officer, who he views as a pawn of the fascist government, drag his sorry ass across a street in Berkeley to keep him away from the pro-troops organization Move America Forward. So much for leading by example. I still can't figure out a logical argument for banning military recruiters from Berkeley altogether. I just saw in the news that there is a debate going on about whether or not to provide a "safe" area for intravenious drug injections. You have got to be kidding me. First of all those drugs are never safe, they are killers. Should we start having our tax dollars go to drug users so they can get the best stuff to use? This is one of the most off the wall ideas I have heard. The only way I would support this is if it were a massive sting where we lure addicts in, bust them and then force them to give up the names and whereabouts of their dealers. I am all for doing more to fight drugs more funding for police and for treatment, but not this. If this gets passed I will go ballistic!

Pelosi threatens America’s military with Turkey resolution

Nancy Pelosi has just stated that she intends to have a house vote on a resolution labeling the killings of Armenians at the hands of the Ottomans at the end of World War I as “genocide”. One must note that Pelosi used her hard stance with China over the Tiananmen Square massacre to propel her into Congressional stardom.

However, Turkey is a vital US interest in the war in Iraq. Seventy percent of American supplies flown into Iraq go through Turkish airspace. Restricting access to American over flight means that personnel and supplies would have to be flow through alternative air corridors. One need only look at a map of the region to see that the nations that neighbor Iraq are largely unfriendly to US interests. Jordan is the only possibility for over flight, and flying through Israeli and Jordanian airspace instead of Turkish would add to flight times and costs. And restrictions from either Israel or Jordan would mean supplies would have to go over Africa and through Saudi airspace.

Pelosi needs to be very careful and consider the implications of her actions. Alienating Turkey will directly affect supply lines to our troops on the ground. A delay in the shipment of food, fuel, and ammunition will mean higher casualties and decreased mission capabilities. The blood will be directly on the hands of those who voted for this resolution.

No one is excusing the Ottoman Empire’s actions following WWI. But to pass a symbolic resolution against a critical US interest for an action that happened a century ago is poor diplomatic and military strategy. This is a just a petty political move by democrats and to them the consequences be damned.

Marines face weak resistance in the battle of Berkeley

According to Code Pink organizer Dianne Budd, “If there are to be no wars, there can be no warriors”. This is her justification of Code Pink’s protests outside of the Marine Officer Selection Office at 64 Shattuck Square in Berkeley. The office, which has been open since January was able to survive almost nine months without radicals interfering in its duty: to send college students the USMC Officer Candidate School in Quantico, VA.

The peace and quiet came to an end in late September, when someone finally put down his guava juice long enough to notice the unassuming office. Since then, every Wednesday Code Pink, a radical organization which is infamous for its disgusting display outside Walter Reed hospital in 2005 when it placed dozens of flag-draped coffins in plain view for the wounded to see, protests outside.

Of course, not wanting to miss the bandwagon, World Can’t Wait, a Maoist front group, has apparently reached a timeshare agreement with Code Pink and protests outside the office on Fridays. Since the protests began, the office has been defaced with graffiti and interested students are bombarded with counter-recruitment propaganda.

Apparently these two groups don’t know the USMC very well. CPT Richard Lund, Commander of the station wrote an open letter to Code Pink, where he dares them to point out any flaws in his integrity, points out their emotionally based arguments, and exposes their complete hypocrisy in demanding an end to the US military but demanding that a peacekeeping force be sent to Sudan. Lund concludes with “I will never sacrifice my honor by lying to anyone that walks into my office. I will never forsake the courage that it takes to restrain myself in the face of insulting and libelous labels like liar and traitor. And, most importantly, I will never waver from my commitment to helping individuals who desire to serve their country as officers in the Marine Corps.”

If Code Pink and WCW want a war, the Marines at 64 Shattuck seem happy to oblige. The Marines are over 230 years old, and they'll be here long after these anti-military (Code Pink) and anti-american (WCW) gomers.

Right after the now famous 2007 flag stomping incident, ASI board member and [X] Press online staff writer Kimberly Castillo offered up this pile of journalistic fecal matter in an attempt to counter the growing support the College Republicans were enjoying from the students and outside media. I searched long and hard for the word "opinion" and "editorial" but found no such language in Ms. Castillo's article. The staff was brazen enough to publish it as a news article. The apple didn't fall too far from the tree with the new crop of writers currently pumping out articles that make me yearn for the days of "The Page," my high-school news paper; at least they knew the difference between news and opinion.

ASI President gets a life lesson courtesy of veteran shyster

On a lighter note, ASI President Isidro Armenta was recently the victim of a prank/crime, courtesy of ASI Executive Director Peter Koo. As the story goes, book store general manager Rob Strong was strolling out of the bookstore offices on the second floor of the student center when he noticed an open door to the office of the student body President. Curious as any one would be, he poked his head in to find an empty room. Low and behold Isidro had left his office door wide open and was no where to be found. There on his desk, beaconing petty criminals in all it's majesty, was his $1,200 Apple laptop that was purchased with student fees. Wanting to protect student property and teach Isidro a lesson, Mr. Strong took the laptop and gave it to Peter Koo. Mr. Koo kept the laptop for some time, until a frantic Isidro entered his office to confess what had happened. Mr. Koo also felt it necessary to publicly embarrass the student body President at the next ASI meeting by making the entire board aware that Isidro had left his office open and vulnerable to criminals.

How much is a fair share?

I am sick of hearing people say that the rich do not pay their fair share of taxes.

"New data released by the IRS today offers interesting insights into the distributional spread of the federal income tax burden, new analysis by the Tax Foundation shows. The new data shows that the top-earning 25% of taxpayers (AGI over$62,068) earned 67.5% of the nation's income, but they paid more than four out of every five dollars collected by the federal income tax (86%). The top 1% of taxpayers (AGI over $364,657) earned approximately 21.2% of the nation's income (as defined by AGI), yet paid 39.4% of all federal income taxes. The latest piece from the campus paper is worse than the aforementioned captioning errors. It's so bad that GatorGOP is starting a contest to see who can find the most errors in this article from the [X] Press. Of course there is always the fear that someone, somewhere, will tip them off and they will correct their errors. I doubt that will happen, so fire up your thinking caps and win $20 the easy way! An Army veteran in Reno saw a local business flying a Mexican Flag over an American flag on the business' flag pole, which is illegal. The vet did something I wish more people had the testicular fortitude to do, he used his Army issue knife to cut down both flags, he kept the American flag and left the Mexican flag on the ground. BRAVO!

80% approval ratings are enough to make any politcian feel bullet proof, however it's now clear that it can also make some go crazy with optimism. In what has to be the most outlandish political rhetoric in recent memory, Mayor Newsom announced a plan that would "guarantee a spot at San Francisco State University for all sixth grade students in San Francisco public schools once they graduate high school." Mayor Pollyanna plans to fund the program with $6 million in left over campaign funds from the mayoral election. Problem is that no one told him that San Francisco State Univeristy, despite it's name, is controlled by the State of California. You can't just ship 4,000 additional students a year to a campus that is already over capactiy by 5,000 students!

There is also a much more subtle and disturbing undercurrent to this program. According to the mayor, "the goal of the program is not only to increase the number of students who receive post-secondary education, but also to increase the number of students attending California universities who come from traditionally underrepresented groups." Take that how you will, but if i was a Caucasian 6th grader in San Francisco, i wouldn't be holding my breathe for a hand from Mayor Newsom.

College is a privilege not a right. You EARN admission into an institution of higher learning, you're not guaranteed a College diploma by the goverment. I can't help but wonder if an SFSU diploma will be worthless in the eyes of employers within 5 years.

Blue Angels soar over daffy Daly

In a victory for America, Chris Daly and his fellow lunatics Ross Mirkarimi and Tom Ammiano failed to prevent the Navy’s Blue Angels demonstration team from flying during fleet week 2007. Daly cited an airshow crash earlier in the year as his rationale for his attempt to prevent the airshow. Of course, we should ignore that Daly was working with prominent local anti-war groups in order to bring the resolution to fruition. But he solidified his moonbat status when he argued that a Blue Angel show in San Francisco would contribute to global warming and would cause terror in immigrants living in the city.

Daly is a vulgar and possibly mentally unstable man who has called the SFPD “lazy” and has never hesitated to try and violate the rights of the citizens he is supposed to serve. Mirkarimi has been an outspoken critic of the Iraq war, calling it “illegal” and “misguided”. Ammiano was heavily involved in the recent attempt to railroad radio commentator Michael Savage off the air. These power-hungry leftists were defeated by a 7-3 vote and the support of the rational Mayor Gavin Newsom. Nevertheless, some board members did not likely vote their conscience.

Citizens need to protect the nation’s heritage and pressure the board in coming years to keep the Blue Angels, or Fleet Week will die from death by a thousand cuts. Remember, these same goons helped to kill the USS Iowa, and they are always looking for another victory.

Folsom street fair ad targets Christians

Seems like it was just a short while ago that Southpark was prevented from portraying Mohammed in their show for fear of a backlash from the Muslim community. Why is it that the left will stand up and fight to defend the religious sensibilities of Muslims, but look the other way when ads like this one are made? This advertisement for the Folsom Street fair is designed to resemble the last supper of Jesus and has drawn some very harsh criticism. I don't think the Folsom Street fair should be prevented from running this ad, however, it's incredibly hypocritical to cry foul when cartoons of Mohammed are made, but make no mention of an ad like this, which is undoubtedly offensive to Christians.

The country is heading down the toilet as we speak and Americans seem to be oblivious to this fact, especially the Republicans. I thought Bush was a fiscal conservative, instead he has increased the size of Government and allowed the Republican congress to get away with unbelievable spending, what happened to the Republicans of old. Barry Goldwater is rolling in his grave over what we have done. The dollar is down, the average American is deep in debt, the country is unbelievably in debt, we are in two wars considering a third, and the private federal reserve just keeps printing the money to keep it all going. It has to stop somewhere, you cant have tax cuts and increased spending it doesn’t made sense. Republicans need to wake up and realize it’s not just about taxes being low it’s also about the size of the federal government. Our constitution was designed specifically so that we wouldn’t head down this road, where we are going is exactly what the founders were scared of. In my opinion we have reduced liberty and freedom, high taxes, central private bank, and pre-emptive war. When will Republicans wake up and see that what we have been doing and allowing others to get away with is completely against the ideas of this country and the founding of our party. We must come together and make a change and get the country headed in the right direction. That’s why I’m voting for Ron Paul.

Embarrassing typos continue to plague campus paper...

Defintion - "Troupe" - A company or group, especially of touring actors, singers, or dancers.

It's fair to say that we're all guilty of leaving typos in papers, blogs and forum posts. However, it amazes me that not one, but two typos this glaring could end up in thousands of copies of the campus paper. The least these budding journalists could do is catch these little gems from the latest issue of the Golden Gate [X] Press. Apparently the socialists believe that all the "troupes" occupying Iraq need to be pulled out immediately. For once I agree with the socialists! I think all touring actors, dancers and entertainers that are currently occupying Iraq should be made to leave immediately!

One would think that a newspaper as dedicated to smearing Republicans and propping up socialism could at least spell the name of their hometown correctly, it's "Berkeley" not Berkely." These people are in college?

Letter to the editor:
We were disheartened after reading the editorial in the X press entitled "Childish Protestors." Despite public outrage directed at the protesters, the editorial still found room to criticize the memorial's organizers. Our reactions to the protesters desecrating the American flag with a swastika were deemed "arrogant posturing." The author was brazen enough to assert that our outrage was disingenuous, and nothing more than posing for the Fox News channel; an absurd analysis of our actions. Also unnerving was the author's belief that the opinions of Campus Republicans and Democrats are "unwanted and unrelated." The author, a former employee of Senator Feinstein, then singled out the Republicans with vicious personal attacks. The editorial illustrated a left leaning paper becoming desperate to discredit the conservative movement on campus. It's a sad day when our newspaper publishes editorials that feature lies and character assassination, and read more like the National Enquirer than a legitimate academic opinion.

Democrats say they won't make any guarantees that they can have all the US Troops in Iraq out by 2013, the end of the next Presidential term. Some minor Democrat candidates made the assurances that they could get the job done, but that's easy for them to do since they have a 99% chance of not getting elected - in my not so humble opinion.

Just a question: isn't that what they were running on just a few weeks ago? I just love how elections make politicians even bigger lying scumbags. Or perhaps they just want the military vote?

So first of all, I think it is kind of presumptuous for her to assume she'll win. As far as I know, the left is broken into two main camps - Obama and Hilary, unless they somehow work out a ticket with both of them on it they're just going to split the vote and make it easier for the Republicans to stay in Office. I think this protester in front of Columbia University has made a deeply philosophical, albeit irreverent, statement about free speech in our country. It's safe to say that most Republicans agree that the President of Iran is a complete "douche bag," but does that mean he doesn't have the right to speak? I agreed with President Bush when he said that it shows the strength of our nation that we allow our enemies to have a platform in our country from which to speak. Iran would never allow George Bush to come and speak ill of the Iranian regime while in Tehran. Some far right wingers are saying that our freedoms are being used against us, but can you really say that the Iranian President won hearts and minds with his speech at Columbia University? In the best case he embarrassed himself through incessant ignorance. In the worst case he reaffirmed America's general disdain for his antisemitism and saber rattling.
